Cast iron chips containing cutting fluid can be roasted or centrifuged first, remove water and grease and then use as charge. It can also be treated without roasting, and it can be used as a charge for wet cutting with cutting fluid.

Of course, some processing procedures do not use cutting fluid, the chip that they get is dry, easy to recycle directly. Such chips should be strictly separated from cuttings containing cutting fluid and stored separately.

Cast iron cuttings can be pre-pressed into mass by press, as charge; It can also be installed directly with a loose chip.

Using chip as the burden, the application of the furnace process is different depending on the state of chip. Dry pressing mass, dry loose scraps, briquetting block containing cutting fluid and loose chip, containing cutting fluid should be according to the regulations of equipment in line with the actual conditions of the corresponding charging operation process, cannot optional operation.

1, the roasting

Before cutting scrap recycling, had better be roasting process first, removing process cutting fluid into the water and oil, so, can prevent the liquid iron absorption of gas, also can avoid the furnace charging and melting early smoke.

If used without removal of the cutting fluid chip, the charging process and inappropriate and will result in increased of gas content in liquid iron, not only affect the casting quality, and in the process of smelting gas spreading inside lining, and could lead to damage of induction coil.

At the same time, the use of cuttings without removing moisture and grease will produce a large amount of oily flue gas and pollute the working environment. If only the conventional dust removal system with the electric furnace is used to remove the flue gas, the grease can easily clog the filter cloth of the dust removal system, therefore. Corresponding precautions must be taken.

Of roasting temperature is 300 ~ 450 . The purpose of roasting is to dry the water and burn the grease, but the surface of the chip is easy to oxidize during the cooling process after roasting, which leads to the increase of slag in the furnace. Therefore, it is better to keep the reducing atmosphere in the calciner.

2. Centrifugal dehumidifying

Due to the large amount of energy consumed by roasting, and the problems caused by the oxidation of chip surface, some foundries in foreign countries use centrifuges to treat wet chips. , according to reports in the centrifugal processing can make the chip moisture and oil content is reduced to about 2%, although, as the furnace charge are also should be considered when using, but what is far better than untreated wet chip.

3, air

When the site condition permits, the chip with cutting fluid can also be dried to remove moisture, but the effect is not as good as centrifugal dehumidification.

4. Pressing block

It is a widely used pretreatment method to suppress the loose cuttings with press.

When pressing the lumps, no adhesive should be added to the chip. A small amount of debris may fall off, but it does not affect its use.

When the cast iron chip is pressed by the press, its bulk density is roughly equivalent to that of scrap steel and iron, and the energy consumption in melting process is basically the same. If the foundry is self-controlled, the chip can be stored separately according to the variety of cast iron, which is more beneficial to the accurate ingredients, and also helps to improve the melting efficiency and improve casting quality.

With the pressure machine, the water and grease can be squeezed out without the calcining and other dehumidifying measures. The residual amount of cutting fluid in the final mass is about 2 ~ 3%. The extruded cutting fluid can be collected and reused after proper treatment.
