Characteristics and related process requirements of the brass casting process

The brass casting process is well suited for mass, small batch or single piece production, sometimes with no difference in production costs. No particularly complicated mechanical equipment is required, and the mold processing scheme is more flexible and diverse. The size accuracy specified in the brass casting process should be 5 ‰ of the nominal size.


The roughness level of the brass casting process is Ra0.8 - 3.2 μ m, which reduces the workload of subsequent machining. In the case of near net shape or even net shape, machining operation will be canceled. A reasonably designed single casting can sometimes replace equipment for multiple parts, including general casting, machining operation, stamping, forging, injection molding, and sheet metal.


The brass casting process is suitable for most casting alloys, including different types of cast iron, carbon steel, low alloy steel, tool steel, stainless steel, heat resistant steel, nickel alloy, cobalt alloy, titanium alloy, bronze, brass, aluminum alloy and so on. The overall processing effect is relatively stable.


The cleaning of each process of the brass casting process must be thorough to prevent the solution remaining in the pores from affecting the next process. In order to ensure the uniformity of the coating color, the copper preplating part coupling in the brass casting process should be shaken frequently.
