Aluminum alloy castings are generally divided into Al-Si and Al-Si-Mg-Cu based medium strength alloys; Al-Cu based high strength alloys; Al-Mg based corrosion resistant alloys; Al- Re-based thermal strength alloy. In most cases, heat treatment will also be required to achieve the relevant purposes of strengthening the alloy, eliminating stresses in the casting, stabilizing the structure and the dimensions of the part.


Aluminum alloy castings have relatively good casting properties and can be made into very complex shapes. When used in practice, they do not require huge additional equipment; they have the advantages of saving metal, reducing costs, and reducing working hours, etc., in the aviation industry. With the civilian industry has been very widely used. And aluminum alloy castings can also be used to manufacture beams, gas turbine blades, pump bodies, pylons, hubs, intake lip and engine casing, etc., and later can also be used to manufacture automobile cylinder heads, gearboxes. The refinement of aluminum alloy castings will mainly remove gas and non-metallic inclusions in the alloy fluid. For the aluminum alloy, the gas is mainly hydrogen (more than 85%), and the inclusions are mainly alumina.


The refining of aluminum alloy castings, including the use of hexachloroethane or chlorine salt, is a common refining agent. This type of refining agent has very good gas and slag removal effects and is not conducive to environmental protection. It is precisely because of this, that the refining of aluminum alloy castings, domestic and foreign researchers have developed two types of effective refining methods, including rotary impeller method (RID method) and jet flux method (FI method), not only environmental protection, on its quality It is also better.
