The causes and prevention of the cold shut defect in stainless steel pump impeller castings

In the production of stainless steel pump impeller castings, if the blade thickness is only 2.5 mm, it will be easier to produce cold shut defect. The stainless steel pump impeller castings produce these defects, first, is because of the appropriate chemical composition of the, but also because of the low temperature of the discharging and casting, the metal liquid oxidation is serious and the fluidity is poor.

 

In this reason, we should strictly operate according to the smelting process, so as to prevent liquid metal oxidation, improve the discharging temperature, increase the fluidity of metal liquid, to avoid the cold shut defect.

 

The stainless steel pump impeller castings produce cold insulation defects, also because the number of metal liquid is not enough, or because of leak-out and other reasons, causing the interruption of casting. At this time, we should arrange the flow channel system reasonably, increase the sectional area of the inner channel and the number of internal pouring and change the casting position of the casting.

 

The stainless steel pump impeller casting has cold shut defect, because of the unreasonable casting, and the inappropriate inner casting location, also because of the small sectional area and small number.

 

In order to improve the stainless steel pump impeller castings, the modeling operation should be very careful. In the mould assembling of the stainless steel pump impeller casting, it must be tighten clip or press box well to avoid cutoff in the leak-out and casting process.
